Bless No. 74 Seatpadding

This one has been around for a while, but still a very rare find. Seatpadding is a domestic object that addresses the dilemma of dreary, but sometimes necessary plastic furniture. Take the humble patio chair, which is fairly standard in its measurements, and quite upsetting to look at while it’s naked. Take instead this seat covering, which is anything but humble; it’s in fact exceedingly clever, cool, and unexpected. Everything you would want in a great house guest. It’s two layers of fabric—printed cotton in pedestrian brick motif, with a custom woven tapestry on the other side. In between is upholstery padding in three distinct sections (seat, back, head), providing structure, shape, and maximum comfort to an object that normally offers not much but pain. One could conceivably toss this cover on any number of chair-like manifestations and be successful. Reversible.
